Shinryuken – A Hidden Lineage (真龍軒の隠された系譜)Available In March
In the long and winding history of Japan’s martial traditions, few figures are as mysterious, and yet as consequential, as Toda Hisajirō. A falconer. A swordsman. A shadow. In public records, he appears only briefly before vanishing into obscurity. But now for those of us who train in the lineage of Togakure Ryū ninjutsu, his name echoes like a whispered truth just beyond reach.
This book is the result of what began as a continuation of my original research into the life of Toda Shinryūken Masamitsu, the 32nd Sōke (headmaster) of Togakure Ryū. In that first investigation, I argued, based on archival documents, historical context, and linguistic evidence, that Shinryūken Masamitsu and the man known in government records as Toda Hisajirō were one and the same. This theory was not simply speculative; it was validated and appreciated by none other than Masaaki Hatsumi Sensei, the 34th headmaster and my own teacher. His words of encouragement and his request that I share these findings publicly became the driving force behind the first book.
