Sean Askew & Kei Askew
Sean Askew (15th Dan Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, Kotō-Ryū Koppōjutsu Menkyo Kaiden, 3rd Dan Kosen Judo) lived in Japan for over 15 years, regularly training under Hatsumi Soke and several of the Japanese Bujinkan senior ranking Shihan. He graduated from Sophia University (上智大学) in Tokyo with a degree in Japanese Studies, and minored in Japanese Religions. His martial arts background includes Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, Kosen Judo, Kodokan Judo, MMA and shootfighting. Sean teaches his Bujinkan Kokusai Renkoumyo syllabus, a system for progress in Taijutsu approved by Hatsumi Soke and Noguchi Soke in 2001. Sean has black belt students in various countries throughout the world but currently resides in Commerce Township, Michigan where he is a Global Purchasing Buyer in the Japanese automotive production industry. He travels to Japan several times a year to continue his training and to provide guidance and support to his students who travel there.
Kei graduated from Shobi University (尚美学園大学) in Saitama, Japan with a degree in Audio Visual Arts, and she also works in the Japanese automotive production industry. She is a skilled, certified Yoga Instructor and an accomplished Stand-Up Paddle Boarding instructor. Kei and Sean met and married in Tokyo, Japan through their work in the same industry, and from the very beginning of their relationship, Kei has been deeply involved, often behind the scenes, in producing seminars, events, websites, trips to Japan and China, etc. for BKRBUDO. Well known to both Hatsumi Sōke and Noguchi Sōke, she is a trusted and reliable partner in all of our BKRBUDO endeavors.
